The Banana Pi open source hardware development community, led by Guangdong Bipai Technology and supported by Taiwan’s Hon Hai Technology (Foxconn), specializes in open source hardware development. The development board, system kernel, and architecture design are publicly available, facilitating global developer participation. The impact of the community is very large: Banana Pi products have reached more than 170 countries, attracted millions of developers, and garnered about 60 million visits.
Banana Pi open source hardware has evolved over 10 years, resulting in four series: the Single Board Computer, Smart Router, AI Artificial Intelligence Development Board and IoT Development Board, as well as the STEAM educational series. With over 400 accessories and support for nearly 200 commercial applications, Banana Pi enjoys the support of the major open source communities.
Banana Pi owns the registered trademark "BPI" and uses it globally to promote the open source ecosystem. About 10 corporate members have joined the community, offering trademark permission to vendors, teams and companies interested in participating. The goal of the community is to co-manage and promote to become the leading open source hardware community worldwide.
