IAR extends AI and ML capabilities with Renesas RA8M1 microcontrollers

Uppsala, Sweden, November 1, 2023 IAR, a global leader in embedded development software and services, announced the integration of Renesas RA8 microcontrollers into the latest release of IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm, version 9.40.2.

Key features of IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm, version 9.40.2 include:

1. State-of-the-art support. IAR Embedded Workbench now enables developers to leverage the capabilities of Renesas RA8 microcontrollers based on the Arm Cortex-M85 processor with Arm Helium technology.
2. Enhanced Security. The Pointer Authentication and Branch Target Identification (PACBTI) extension ensures code and system integrity, enhancing developer security.
3. AI and ML readiness. With Arm's Helium technology and IAR Embedded Workbench optimization, developers can immediately start building powerful AI, machine learning (ML) and digital signal processing (DSP) applications.

"Because RA8 microcontrollers offer high performance and security, they enable embedded developers to leverage these capabilities in AI and ML applications," said Anders Holmberg, CTO of IAR.
