Competition for the title of Design Champion at IPC APEX EXPO 2024

For the third consecutive year, IPC is organizing a competition inviting PCB designers to compete for the title of IPC Design Champion 2024.

The competition consists of two stages - a virtual preliminary stage and an in-person final. The finals will feature the top 3 contestants on April 9, 2024 at the IPC APEX EXPO in Anaheim, CA.

The virtual preliminary phase will run from January 15 to February 9. Contestants will only be provided with a schematic, component specifications and a brief description of the application. They will be required to complete the board assembly and export the documentation package in Gerber or IPC-2581 format. Contestants will be judged on their implementation of design and layout rules in accordance with IPC standards, as well as their overall implementation of "design excellence" principles.

Three finalists will be invited to IPC APEX EXPO 2024 to compete in the layout final round. In the final round, contestants will be provided with a partially completed design file and will have 4 hours to complete the layout, including specification of design rules, routing and component placement. Contestants will be provided with free short-term Altium Designer licenses for use in the final round.

Registration for the IPC Design Competition is free and ends January 15, 2024.
