Polar Instruments' GRS550 for PCB repair

The GRS 550 from Polar Instruments is a test system that helps repair and refurbish high-value boards with hard-to-detect faults that would otherwise be scrapped.

Both the GRS500 and GRS550 are ideal for diagnosing faults where traditional in-circuit testing is not cost effective. The testing method involves comparing a known-faulty node with the node under test using high-resolution analysis and visualization. This approach can effectively detect component presence, misalignment, shorts, opens and defective solder joints without requiring the operator to have in-depth knowledge of the assembly. Setting up a test program typically takes an average of 2-4 hours.

The GRS550 test system will soon be upgraded, further expanding its already impressive test capabilities.
