Automatic troubleshooting on complex printed circuit boards

Polar Instruments GmbH will present the GRS550 system with flying sensor at SMTconnect 2024, the international trade fair for system integration in microelectronics.

The system is designed for automatic troubleshooting of complex printed circuit boards.

The GRS550 diagnoses faults during prototyping and new product launches. It uses nodal impedance analysis to compare the characteristics of a sample assembly with those of faulty boards. It also uses a video display to compare images of a serviceable board and the board under test. Powerful computer-aided design (CAD)-based software provides fast tracing of the faulty network. This allows important test results to be generated without complex programming on fully automated systems.

The GRS550 system can even test assemblies with tall components due to its maximum span height of 100 mm. Two video cameras are available to the operator for programming and control, as well as for real-time observation of the sensor position.

SMTconnect 2024 will be held from June 11 to 13, 2024 in Nuremberg.
