New Qi2 MPP Wireless Charging at Infineon OktoberTech

The Wireless Power Consortium announced the new Qi2 MPP wireless charging kit, a magnet-based wireless charger with an intuitive user interface.

The reference design kit features a highly integrated and optimized form factor: its diameter is less than 43 mm and the programmable wireless charging transmitter is centered around the Infineon WLC1 controller.

The IC integrates a microcontroller (MCU) with Flash memory, a buck-boost controller with input voltages from 4.5V to 24V, inverter gate drivers, and a factory-set current sensor. The microcontroller features analog protection peripherals, USB PD and LIN, and serial interfaces for efficient and intelligent power delivery. Qi2 utilizes MagSafe technology's embedded magnets, supporting 15W wireless charging power.

The first public demonstration of the wireless charging board will take place during Infineon's OktoberTech show in Silicon Valley, California. OktoberTech is an annual technology collaboration forum hosted by Infineon. This time it will be held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, October 25, 2023.
