ECU8 platform for BMS development

Neutron Controls and Infineon Technologies have created an automotive battery management platform.

The release of the ECU8 system platform will accelerate the development of Infineon's chipset-based battery management system (BMS). ECU8 includes the proprietary Neutron Control microcontroller module with AURIX TC3xx and TC4xx chipsets, TLE9015DQU transceiver chip and TLE9012 ISO UART interface board.

The ECU8 is the latest addition to Neutron Control's Rapid Engineering Development (RED) family of platforms. It is compatible with lithium-ion battery cells, monitoring up to 12 cells individually in each module. When combining up to 20 modules, the platform supports batteries up to 1000V.

Available ECU8 communication interfaces include iso-UART and iso-SPI for ring mode, two Ethernet ports and three CAN-FD ports. The device provides high and low level drivers for external contactors. On the software side, low-level drivers for the various components of the AURIX TC3x TriCore architecture are implemented. In addition, state of charge (SoC) and state of health (SoH) calculations can be integrated.
