Espressif launches ESP32-P4-Function-EV-Board evaluation board, but is keeping quiet about the general availability of the ESP32-P4 for now

Espressif has released samples of the new ESP32-P4 system-on-chip.

The official evaluation board ESP32-P4-Function-EV-Board is designed for the development of low-cost network-connected audio and video devices such as visual doorbells and smart home center screens. The ESP32-P4 chip is based on two 32-bit RISC-V processor cores and has built-in graphics gas pedals and vision processing for H.264 and JPEG formats. The evaluation board is equipped with PSRAM and flash memory, as well as an ESP32-C6-MINI-1 module for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 communication.

The evaluation board has various ports like USB, microSD card slot, GPIO connector, built-in microphone, analog speaker jack and USB Type-C power connector. It is available for order on AliExpress for $55.44, complete with a DSI touchpad, CSI camera and various cables and connectors. Keep in mind, however, that the board uses pre-production samples of the chip, which have flaws.

The ESP32-P4-Function-EV-Board evaluation board is a useful tool for developing low-cost, high-performance, and low-power networked audio and video devices. It is suitable for prototyping various products, including visual doorbells, network cameras, smart homes, and more.
