Japan's Meiko Electronics plans to open a $100 million PCB factory in Vietnam by mid-2025.
The 9.3-hectare plant is located in Bo Trai Song Da Industrial Park in Hoa Binh Province. The first phase of construction, including the office and factory part, is scheduled to be completed by Q3 2024. Equipment installation is scheduled for Q4 2024, and staff recruitment and training for early 2025.
During the groundbreaking ceremony in April, Meiko said the total investment will be increased to $500 million when work begins on the second factory. The factories will produce electronic circuits for peripherals, computers, electronic home appliances, audio-visual equipment, solar cells, microprocessor chips and controllers.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked Meiko for its investment of more than $1 billion over the past two decades. He also asked Hoa Binh provincial authorities to promote more investment in high technology.
